How It All Started
Ornawe began with a fairly simple observation from our founder, Wang Yi: the little details in a room are often the ones that make it feel like home. Not the furniture, not the paint color — but the small, quiet things sitting on a windowsill or a bookshelf that catch your eye on a random Tuesday and make you smile for no particular reason.
Wang Yi grew up around a grandmother who collected small ceramic and resin figurines from every trip she took, lining her shelves with tiny scenes — a market stall here, a cottage there. When Wang Yi moved into a first apartment years later, that same instinct kicked in: a bare shelf just didn't feel right without something small and characterful sitting on it. That search for the right little piece — something with a bit of personality, a bit of a story — turned out to be harder than expected. A lot of what was out there felt mass-produced or forgettable. That gap is really where the idea for Ornawe came from.
Who We Are
We're a small team that cares more about getting the details right than about moving fast. Some of us come from design backgrounds, some from small retail, and a few of us just really like tiny things with big personalities. What we share is a genuine appreciation for the kind of French countryside–inspired, cottage-style decor that turns an ordinary shelf into something worth looking at twice.
We decided to build this as an online shop because we wanted to reach people the way that grandmother's shelf once reached a curious kid — one small, meaningful piece at a time, without the overhead (or the markup) of a traditional storefront.
What We Believe
We think home decor doesn't need to be complicated or expensive to matter. A single figurine — a cat with a bow tie, a tiny café sign, a dog on a scooter — can carry as much warmth as a whole room full of bigger furniture, if it's the kind of piece that makes you pause and feel something.
So our approach is pretty straightforward: source and offer pieces with real character, describe them honestly, and treat every order — whether it's one figurine or ten — with the same care we'd want if we were the ones unwrapping the package.
